Question (En)
Which city hosts the famous Inti Raymi festival?
Answer (En)
The famous Inti Raymi festival was celebrated in the city of Cusco, in the ancient Inca Empire and currently in southern Peru. The Inti Raymi, which means "Feast of the Sun" in Quechua, was a religious ceremony in honor of the sun god, Inti, held each year during the winter solstice in the Andes, on June 24. The celebration lasted several days and included rituals, dances, music and sacrifices as offerings to the sun god. Inti Raymi was one of the most important festivities in the Inca calendar and brought together thousands of people from all over the empire to worship the sun and celebrate the beginning of a new agricultural cycle. Today, Inti Raymi continues to be celebrated in Cusco as a cultural and tourist representation of the rich Inca history.
