Question (En)
What areas in Colombia are important for the conservation of endangered species and how are they being protected?
Answer (En)
In Colombia, several areas are important for the conservation of endangered species. The Colombian Amazon region is crucial for the conservation of species such as the jaguar, the giant anteater and the pink dolphin. In the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, there is the Andean condor, a species in critical danger of extinction. The Los Nevados National Natural Park, in the central mountain range, is vital for the conservation of the spectacled bear. These areas are protected through the creation of national natural parks and natural reserves, where monitoring and protection programs for endangered species are implemented. In addition, efforts are made to combat deforestation and illegal trafficking of species, as well as to involve local communities in the conservation of their biodiversity.
