Question (En)
Which protected areas in Colombia are World Heritage Sites and why?
Answer (En)
Colombia has several protected areas that are recognized as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO due to their natural and cultural importance. The Los Kat&&i&&os National Natural Park, shared with Panama, is recognized for its biodiversity and for being a refuge for threatened species such as the jaguar and the manatee. The San Agust&&i&&n Archaeological Park, with its unique collection of pre-Columbian statues and tombs, is another UNESCO-recognized site. The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, with its biological and cultural diversity, is also a World Heritage Site. The importance of these protected areas lies in their contribution to the conservation of biodiversity, the preservation of archaeological sites and the protection of indigenous culture.
