Belize has a large number of protected areas and nature reserves that are ideal for ecotourism. One of the most notable is the Maya Biosphere Reserve, which is the largest tropical forest reserve in Belize and is home to a great diversity of wildlife as well as important Mayan archaeological sites. Belize National Caves Park is another popular destination for ecotourism, with a network of underground caves that can be explored. Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is known for being the world's first jaguar sanctuary and offers unique wildlife viewing opportunities. Other protected areas include Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Blue Hole National Park, all of which offer unique ecotourism experiences in Belize.
