Question (En)
What species of turtles are found in the Galapagos Islands?
Answer (En)
The Galapagos Islands are known for their giant tortoises, which are one of the most emblematic species of the archipelago. In total, there are 15 subspecies of giant tortoises in the Galapagos, each one adapted to the specific conditions of the island on which it lives. Some of the best-known subspecies include the Espa&&n&&ola giant tortoise, the Santa Cruz giant tortoise, and the San Crist&&o&&bal giant tortoise. In addition to giant tortoises, the Galapagos are also home to other species of sea turtles, such as the green turtle, hawksbill turtle, and leatherback turtle, which come to the islands' beaches to lay their eggs. All of these turtle species are protected in the Galapagos Islands, where conservation efforts are carried out to ensure their long-term survival.
