Question (En)
What are the different names for Black people in Latin American countries?
Answer (En)
Terminology varies by country. In Colombia, Afro-descendants are often called "costeños" or "palenqueros" (referring to San Basilio de Palenque). In Brazil, "preto" and "pardo" describe different shades of Blackness. Cuba uses "negro" and "mulato." In Mexico, Afro-Mexicans are called "afromexicanos." Dominican Republic often uses "moreno" instead of "negro" due to racial stigma.
