Question (En)
Why do they believe Machu Picchu in Peru is sacred? Holy or imbued with power?
Answer (En)
The Incas believed Machu Picchu was a connection between the earthly world (Kay Pacha), the celestial world (Hanan Pacha), and the underworld (Uku Pacha). Its location among sacred mountains, called apus, made it a site of spiritual power. Many of its structures, like the Intihuatana, were aligned with astronomical events, symbolizing a connection to the sun and life cycles.
