Question (En)
What is the racial makeup of Peru?
Answer (En)
Peru is an ethnically diverse country with a population made up of various groups. The majority (about 60%) are mestizos, people of mixed indigenous and European descent. The indigenous population, mainly in the Andean and Amazon regions, makes up about 25% of the population. There are also Afro-Peruvians, who make up around 3% of the population, primarily in coastal regions. Smaller communities of Asians, particularly Chinese and Japanese descent, and Europeans also live in Peru. Peru’s diverse population contributes to a rich cultural landscape.
