Question (En)
Are drugs legal in Peru?
Answer (En)
Drugs are illegal in Peru. The country has stringent laws against the production, trafficking, and consumption of illicit substances. Peru is one of the world's largest producers of coca, the raw material for cocaine, which contributes to its drug-related challenges. However, personal possession of small amounts of drugs (up to 8 grams of marijuana or a similar amount of other substances) can result in administrative sanctions, such as fines, but is not considered a criminal offense. Peruvian authorities remain committed to eradicating drug trafficking.
