Bolivia has several protected areas that have been recognized as Natural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. One of them is the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park, located in the Santa Cruz region. This park is recognized for its biological diversity and its impressive landscapes ranging from savannahs to tropical jungles, in addition to being home to unique species such as the jaguar, tapir and giant anteater. Another recognized protected area is Madidi, a national park that encompasses a wide range of ecosystems, from the Andes to the Amazon rainforest. This park is famous for its exceptional biodiversity and for being one of the most biodiverse places on Earth, hosting a large number of plant and animal species. In addition, the Sajama National Park, located in the department of Oruro, is recognized for being the home of unique species of flora and fauna, as well as for its cultural importance, as it houses important archaeological sites of the pre-Inca culture.
