The Palacio de Cort&&e&&s is one of Cuernavaca most important monuments. Built by Hern&&a&&n Cort&&e&&s in 1526, it is a symbol of the city's colonial past and houses the Cuauhn&&a&&huac Museum, which showcases the region's history from pre-Hispanic times to the conquest. Another iconic landmark is the Cuernavaca Cathedral, part of a set of former convents that are a World Heritage Site. The Jard&&i&&n Borda, with its historic gardens, was the temporary residence of Maximilian and Carlota.
