Guyana's forests are home to a great diversity of mammals, many of which are emblematic of the region. Among the most common mammals are several species of monkeys, such as the red howler monkey (Alouatta macconnelli), the spider monkey (Ateles paniscus) and the capuchin monkey (Cebus capucinus). These primates are important to the ecosystem as they help disperse seeds and contribute to maintaining the balance of the forest.

Another common mammal in the forests of Guyana is the jaguar (Panthera onca), the largest cat in America and a top predator in the ecosystem. You can also find other felines such as the puma (Puma concolor) and the ocelot (Leopardus pardalis).

In addition, other interesting mammals live in the forests of Guyana such as the giant anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla), the three-toed sloth (Bradypus tridactylus) and the giant river otter (Pteronura brasiliensis).
