Question (En)
What is the foreign currency entry and exit policy for tourists in Cuba?
Answer (En)
In Cuba, tourists can carry an unlimited amount of foreign currency, but are required to declare any amount over $5,000 (or other equivalent foreign currency). When leaving the country, tourists can take with them the same amount of foreign currency that they declared when entering. They are allowed to exchange their currencies for CUC (Cuban Convertible Peso) in official exchange houses (CADECA) or banks. When leaving the country, tourists can exchange their remaining CUCs into their home currency, but are not allowed to carry CUCs with them outside of Cuba. It is important to keep exchange receipts, as they are required to exchange unused CUCs back into foreign currencies.
