Question (En)
What is the current situation of biodiversity conservation in Cuba?
Answer (En)
Biodiversity conservation in Cuba is a priority for the government and several efforts have been made to protect its unique ecosystems. Cuba has established a network of protected areas that cover approximately 20% of the country's land and marine territory. These areas include national parks, biosphere reserves and marine protected areas. Additionally, Cuba has implemented policies to protect endangered species, such as the Antillean manatee and almiqu&&i&&, through conservation and environmental education programs. However, there are challenges, such as deforestation, loss of natural habitats and pollution, that continue to threaten biodiversity in Cuba. It is necessary to continue working on the conservation of biodiversity and the promotion of sustainable development in the country.
